The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has made the significant decision to accept the resignations of its General Secretary, Champat Rai, and trustee Anil Mishra, following an investigation into alleged mismanagement of donations intended for the construction of the Ram Mandir. Trust treasurer Govind Giri confirmed the resignations were processed in alignment with the trust’s governing rules. He also took the opportunity to commend the lengthy and valuable contributions Champat Rai has made to the trust since its formation.

These resignations arise amid accusations of discrepancies in the handling of temple donations. The allegations have stirred emotions within the trust, with senior member Pankaj Jaiswal expressing profound disappointment, labeling the situation both painful and shameful. He emphasized the gravity of the matter, noting that any misappropriation of funds donated by devotees is intolerable.

In response to these developments, the trust has appointed Krisha Mohan as the interim General Secretary, ensuring continuity in leadership. Meanwhile, Govind Giri will maintain his role as treasurer, overseeing the financial aspects of the trust during this tumultuous period.

The trust is scheduled to reconvene on July 22, by which time the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is anticipated to deliver its comprehensive report on the matter. Giri has reaffirmed the trust’s commitment to accountability, stating unequivocally that no individual found guilty of wrongdoing will be shielded, irrespective of their status within the organization.

As the investigation into the alleged embezzlement progresses, eight individuals have already been apprehended. The ongoing inquiry underscores the seriousness with which the trust is addressing these allegations, determined to uphold the integrity of its operations and the sacred purpose of the donations received.
