Opsio Introduces Advanced PrismIQ AI for Visual Inspection in India

by admin477351

Swedish cloud and artificial intelligence firm Opsio has introduced PrismIQ, a groundbreaking automated visual inspection service aimed at revolutionizing the manufacturing sector by enabling real-time detection of production defects. Launching first in India, a country with a rapidly expanding manufacturing landscape, the service is set for a broader international release. PrismIQ integrates industrial cameras with sophisticated deep-learning models, specifically trained on each manufacturer’s products, to identify issues such as surface defects, cracks, contamination, dimensional variations, and assembly errors during the production process.

This innovative inspection technology utilizes edge hardware installed directly on production lines, allowing for swift processing of inspection results without relying solely on manual checks. The system’s data can be seamlessly integrated into existing PLC and SCADA infrastructure, facilitating automated sorting and decision-making on production lines. Opsio emphasizes that the platform is designed to overcome the limitations of manual inspection, particularly in high-speed manufacturing environments where it is challenging to inspect every individual product. An active-learning system fine-tunes the detection models over time using production data.

What sets PrismIQ apart is its offering as a comprehensive end-to-end service. Opsio manages the configuration of cameras, lenses, and lighting, along with model development, validation, integration into factory systems, and ongoing operations. The service package also includes operator training, quality dashboards, and regular performance evaluations. Opsio claims that a typical deployment can move from an initial feasibility study to full production within eight to 12 weeks, offering a swift transition to enhanced inspection capabilities.

India was chosen for the initial launch of PrismIQ due to its burgeoning manufacturing sector and Opsio’s established presence, including an AI Lab in Bengaluru dedicated to developing and testing industrial AI solutions. The technology is engineered from the company’s headquarters in Karlstad, Sweden. Initially, PrismIQ is available to manufacturers in sectors such as automotive, electronics, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals, with customer engagements beginning with a feasibility study and proof-of-concept using the manufacturer’s own product samples.

“Indian manufacturing is scaling at a pace the world has rarely seen, and quality is what will turn that scale into lasting global competitiveness,” remarked Daniel Hedlund, Chairman of Opsio. Praveena Shenoy, Country Manager at Opsio India, added that the company anticipates its automated inspection service will enable manufacturers to identify defects earlier and enhance quality-control processes.
