The Delhi government is set to initiate a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure initiative known as Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, commencing on September 17. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, highlighting the campaign’s alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service. The month-long effort is ambitious, featuring the launch and groundwork of projects valued at approximately ₹13,800 crore throughout the city.
Integral to the campaign are a variety of community-focused activities. Blood donation drives, health check-ups for senior citizens, and sanitation efforts, including cleaning the Yamuna river, are scheduled across the capital’s 70 assembly constituencies. Notably, a significant blood donation camp on September 17 aims to collect 2,500 units, while organ donation will be promoted alongside health camps tailored for the elderly.
One of the major highlights is the allocation of around ₹8,000 crore towards projects related to the Yamuna river as part of the campaign. Additionally, over 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers are set to receive recognition for their contributions. The initiative also targets educational engagement, with plans for student-centric activities across approximately 5,000 schools, including painting and speech competitions and an innovation challenge aimed at fostering ideas for a developed India.
The scope of the projects planned during this campaign is extensive, encompassing various sectors. There will be ₹8,000 crore invested in initiatives by the Delhi Jal Board, ₹2,800 crore in public works department projects, ₹1,500 crore directed towards power-sector advancements, ₹365 crore allocated for irrigation and flood-control endeavors, and ₹77 crore dedicated to tourism development within the region.
