Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 candidate, along with her father, former soldier Rakesh Singh, has initiated a sit-in protest outside the office of the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Delhi. This action comes after the NTA dismissed claims from several candidates, including Arya, alleging discrepancies in their examination results. The agency asserted that the images circulating online, purportedly showing altered results, were either fabricated or digitally manipulated and did not match the official records.
Hailing from Kanpur, Arya Singh claims her NEET-UG 2026 re-examination score was altered following the announcement of results. According to her, the initial score displayed was 570 marks, which was later revised to 167. Arya further contends that the OMR sheet provided by the NTA was flawed, featuring a missing question number and duplicate serial numbers. After raising these concerns, she alleges that another OMR sheet was sent, indicating a score of 609 marks.
Rakesh Singh expressed dissatisfaction with the NTA’s response, stating that the family intends to continue their protest until they receive satisfactory answers. He has also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and address the alleged irregularities in the examination process.
The NTA, however, has firmly denied all allegations, maintaining that the original OMR sheets are consistent with the declared scores. They emphasized that official examination documents are secured with identifiers such as barcodes and QR codes to prevent tampering.
This controversy is rooted in the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination conducted on June 21, following the cancellation of the original exam in May due to allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the case, adding to the complexity of the situation.
